Saturdays

Today I did 9 loads of laundry (3 loads of bedding, 1 load of towels, 2 loads of light clothes, 2 loads of dark clothes and 1 load of underwear), loaded and emptied the dishwasher multiple times, cleaned the kitchen, changed the sheets on all of the beds, made lunch and two dinners, fixed the kid’s blinds, made and played with salt dough, made menus for the next week (hooray for none of our menu items requiring a trip to the grocery store!), administered 3 time-outs, vacuumed the downstairs, changed 6 diapers (3 poopy), read 5 stories, gave 2 baths.

Today I did not get my kids dressed, iron, clean the bathrooms, finish the touch-up painting in the bathroom, vacuum upstairs or the stairs, mop the kitchen floor, wash my white slipcovers (never fall for the lines in magazines where mothers claim that white slipcovers are easy), wash the windows (they get a lot of condensation on them and the kids like to “draw” in it), exercise, or start reading any of my library books due this coming Friday. And yes, I really thought I could accomplish this as well as what I actually got done.

Christmas in April

Matt sold a textbook back today and I promptly spent the money on my first Christmas purchase of 2009. This Christmas, Winnie is getting one of these dolls and her outfits.

Today I bought this doll crib that I'd been eyeing on Ebay to go along with her.


It was only $25.00, including shipping, so I'm a little worried that it may look better in the pictures than real life, but the size is perfect and it's supposed to be solid wood with a working drop side. That's more than I can say for my real crib!

I'd kind of like to paint it, so an imperfect finish could be a plus because it would get rid of my guilt in painting nice wood.

I love Christmas shopping so much it might not be healthy.

Update: Make that my second Christmas purchase of 2009. I forgot about one other thing I'd bought and put away. Good thing I keep a spreadsheet!

If life went according to my plans. . .

If life went according to my plans, Matt would work for the Public Defender's office where he's currently interning, and we would live in this Center Street house (the Knight-Allen House), a mere 2 blocks away.


Built in 1894, the house is 2,400 square feet with 4 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. It has a detached garage and sits on a quarter acre lot. The house is considered a historic landmark by the Landmarks Commission as "the best and most unique example of Victorian Eclecticism in Provo", but it's not feeling the love it deserves. Currently it's 2 units and county tax records indicate the owners live in Spanish Fork. The tax records grade its desirability an A and its condition an F. Doesn't this house look like it needs me?
